"HEADSTRONG" REVIEW:

In January of 2006, a group of six kids went from unknown to SUPER popularity with the release of High School Musical. Success have opened new doors for each cast members: Vanessa's got her record deal with Hollywood Records; Corbin's got his record deal with Hollywood Records and a new release of a mega-popular DCOM movie, "Jump In"; Monique's got her chance on Dancing With the Stars; Lucas's got his new movies and TV shows; Zac's got his chance to be in another musical, "Hairspray" and obviously, the blonde, meany Sharpay, portrayed by The Suite Life of Zack & Cody's Ashley Tisdale also got new future. Her choice was a brand new album. After more than one year in working, the album finally dropped today.

The album, in and out features new photoshoot pictures showing a much edgier side of Ashley. In addition to her look, her sound is rather edgy. The enjoyable, well-blended Intro gives fans a sense of what is to come in the album and it straightly leads into the first Matrix- produced track, So Much for You. This song is a very catchy song, talking about fighting for what you want. Following is Ashley's so-called "first single," He Said She Said talks about a sassy boy- girl relationship. This track, produced by hip-hop, top notch producer, J. R. Roteum, could very possibly be the most edgy and adult-topics related song of the album. The track, itself is rather catchy and very dancey. Continuing is Ashley's second single, Be Good to Me, another dance track. This track is less catchy but brings a nice message to young people.

The album continues with another dancey song, Not Like That, (co-penned by Ashley herself) that captures her in her "usual" style and the "real" her. I never really liked this song until I heard the bridge. The first remake, a ballad, Unlove You quickly follows. Unlove You was a song originally penned by Sarah Hudson and was well- performed. This time, Ashley does not take any bad turns and make it even better than the original. It also greatly focuses in Ashley's vocal abilities.

A couple of weeks ago, a new track, Positivity was leaked by TV Teen (US! LOL) and quickly became one of the most talked about song among Ashley Tisdale fans. When I heard the final studio version, it definitely became one of my favorite songs on the album, and many others. The track brings a great positive message and shows Ashley's view of the world. Track #8 sings about loving one for who he is. The track, Love Me for Me, was penned by Diane Warren, is a mid-tempo track and is another favorable track.

Up to Track 8, "Headstrong" has been practically perfect. Track 9, Goin' Crazy and Track 10, Over It, captures "Headstrong" at its weakest. The tracks features a little too- much Britney styles, making it a little less original and very less original. Goin' Crazy, however, could be made into a hit after a couple of listens, while, Over It, made me become more and more annoyed with the track after listening to it.

Following the low spots of Headstrong, it quickly comes back up stronger than ever. The cover of Tata Young's Zoom, Don't Touch, is the album's catchy track. The track sounds great and the instruments used sounded amazing. The following song is the sweet ballad performed on the High School Musical concert, We'll Be Together. The song sounds mega amazing and is one of the best slow jams of the album. Definitely a very enjoyable song.

Coming on to Track #13, we have come to Ashley's independence anthem and title track of the album, Headstrong. Headstrong features a wonderful build- up and a great dance steps as performed by Ashley herself on tour. The track is absolutely catchy and amazing. This is deinitely one of the two defining songs of "Headstrong" and is very well produced. (IGNORE ALL THE THINGS PEOPLE SAY ABOUT GWEN STEFANI. Ashley's singing a slight similar style. Everybody does it!) This song keeps coming back to me after I leave it down for awhile.

Finally, the track, Suddenly, as co-penned by Ashley herself, talks about her new-found stardom and greatly shows Ashley's personality, style, feelings and believes. This track has an AMAZING background music and is matched with Ashley's great vocals. This is the second defining song on her album. This track is put at a perfect location to end the album. To be honest, I have never heard an album (until now) that the ending track is a complete conclusion to the album. "Suddenly" completes the job perfectly and concludes the album in a nice, beautiful way. I always love to repeat this track over and over again.

iTunes released a bonus track, I Will Be Me, in which talks about the chaos and troubles faced in a daily life, but how being yourself is important. Great song with a great beat. This is one of my favorite bonus tracks. Walmart also released two bonus tracks, Who I Am, It's Life, both contains a club style music. Not very notable, but still enjoyable at times.

Even if Ashley does not have Vanessa Hudgens' vocals, her album was a lot more well-planned than "V" and definitely made it more edgier and enjoyable. This CD will definitely be enjoyed by many of many different age and WILL definitely do well on the charts. For those of you who have not picked up an album, make sure you buy it ASAP!
