HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE CONCERT!

This review will be VERY, VERY LONG. So bear with me :)

PART 1: GETTING TICKETS:
To tell you the truth, you really don't need to know this, but I will say it for it relates to the concert:
- I decided to go to the concert during Winter Break, so I went online everyday looking for tickets. (Ebay, Razorgator.. etc)
- My tickets, in which I purchased at Soldouttickets.com, got changed many times. I originally ordered 228CC, and then they changed it to 202BB. Which was OK, until I got the tickets... I got 225M. I was really mad, but it was actually an OK seat.

PART 2: PRE-CONCERT:
My mom had a training in Anaheim, and she knew she wasn't going to make it home after the training to pick me up, so I had to follow her to her training place at 7:00 AM. Boy.. was it a long day. I did manage to finish a bunch of Ashley banners... LOL

PART 3: ARRIVAL:
- My mom and I hurried to have our dinner at around 4:45PM and then we headed straight to Honda Center. When we got there... There were TONS of people there already. [AND I thought I was early.]
- Parking was $12.00

PART 4: BUYING MERCHANDISE:

- We hurried along and went passed the merchandise booth. We waited for awhile, and finally a lady was there to help us.

- I myself got the High School Musical Program Booklet, a Black shirt, the Poster and the Lanyard. That costed like $65. I was going to get my friends something but it was way too expensive and my mom was looking at me like I was crazy buying all that stuff so I didn't get anything. (Sorry guys!)

- When we went into the hall, there were more merchandises store. As the concert got closer, the more people there were getting stuff.

PART 5: Admission

- Before getting into the concert hall, we went through security
- There were tons of food and stuff at the area, but it is VERY expensive. $5 for a hot dog... :(
- As soon as we finished walking around, me and my mom found our seats. And below is a picture of me seating in my seat and the distance to the stage. [WITHOUT ANY ZOOMING]

- During the wait, music videos of Hilary Duff, Jesse McCartney, Everlife, Hannah Montana and previews of Cory in the House, High School Musical, Hannah Montana, GirlNext and everything airs.- After waiting for so long, me and my mom decided to look around. We saw the back of the stage, and everything. It was really nice. I managed to find where the tour buses were.

PART 6: JORDAN PRUITT SECTION/ OPENING:

- Suddenly the Hannah Montana song, "Best of Both Worlds" was stopped and there comes Jordan Pruitt. People screamed loud. By loud. LOUD.

- Jordan's setlist:
1. Jump To the Rhythm
2. Miss Popularity
3. Outside Looking In
4. Teenager
5. We Are Family

A) Jump to the Rhythm
- The song is a catchy song. I have to say. It first appeared in the January DCOM, Jump In! Jordan did a really good job performing this song.

B) Miss Popularity
-
"Miss Popularity" is a song that is from her upcoming album, "No Ordinary Girl," in stores 2/6. The song captures the life of a popular girl from school. To be honest, this song is very relatable. At my school, well to me it's not Miss Popularity, but MR. Popularity. This is definitely one of the star songs off of her album. Once again, Jordan delivers a great performance.

C) Outside Looking In
- "Outside Looking In" debuted Jordan on the Disney Channel and was used in the summer 2006 DCOM, "Read It and Weep" This once again is a great song. And Absolutely true. Jordan comes out explaining about how this song was written by her when she was in the 6th Grade and how she felt very left out. She starts singing this song and everyone was waving their glowsticks and stuff. Another terrific performance.

D) Teenager
- "Teenager" is the rumored single off of her album, "No Ordinary Girl" This song first premiered on her own myspace, and boy do I have to say, "I do not have conversations like this (mainly because I'm a guy. LOL)" This song is OK catchy and could be enjoyable at times. The song however is very cheesy.

E) We Are Family
- "We Are Family" is the last song on Jordan's performance lineup and was the song used in Air Buds. Frankly, I do not like this version. (I didn't like the original either, or the Jump5 one.) I guess it's just me, I don't like the song. During the performances, Jordan asks everyone to stand up. Blah, blah blah

- After all her five performances, Jordan thanks everyone and leaves the stage and we go on a 20- minute intermission.

PART 7: Intermission

- Nothing special, except it was longer than 20 minutes. LOL. Disney continued to play music videos. More people arrived at this time.

AND FINALLY. THE PART YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR...

PART 8: HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE PERFORMANCES!

I. Countdown
- About 1 minute before the real show started, the curtains drop and previews an electronic gym scoreboard.
- During the countdown, you can hear a little preview of what is to come. "Troy Bolton is not in my show!" shouts Sharpay; "What Team?" Wildcats!"; "GO WILDCATS!"; "Stick to the Status Quo..."

II. Start of Something New/ Stick to the Status Quo/ I Can't Wake My Eyes Off You/ When There Was Me & You:

a) Start of Something New
- First track off the four-times platinum soundtrack. "Start of Something New" starts off with smoke covering what is to come. Then screenlights begin to form and you see Drew coming out singing the first part of the song. Following Drew, Vanessa comes in singing the follow-up. Smoke continues to form. Then begining with the part "I know that something has changed..." the cast joins in and then with the first line of "it's the START of something new" the entire cast jumps and the entire arena turns bright. The cast continues to deliver a wonderful performance while walking around. This song really got everyone going. It was an amazing performance. (A+)
b) Stick to the Status Quo
- Following "Start of Something New" is the performance of "Stick to the Status Quo" The amazing, confessing number is completed with on-screen pop-ups of "NO! NO! NO!" and "Stick to the Status Quo"; a lunch table with a huge amount of dancers; and on- screen displays of the scene in the actual movie. (Chris Warren Junior; The Branic/ Hip-Hop Girl; The Skater Dude) In the mid-course of the performance, we see Ashley and Lucas come out and doing that "THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT... " And they slowly walk down to the stage and the rest of the dancers help Ashley on to the top of the table to show her power. Another AMAZING performance. (A+)

c) Introduction
- After the performances of "Stick to the Status Quo," Lucas introduces everybody from the cast. Corbin; Monique; Ashley; Vanessa; and himself. Then he talks about how he thanks everybody for coming out and he would be the emcee for the evening. Following is a little explanation about the lack of appearance by Zac Efron (which is filming a movie, "Hairspray" in Toronto) and how Drew Seeley would be filling in for Zac.

d) I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You
- Right after the little introduction speech is done, music starts automatically and there goes " I Can't Take My Eyes Off You" It is an amazing performance. The cast stands in front of microphones and starts singing. They move around at certain times. This could very well be one of the best performances of the night. (A+)

e) When There Was Me & You
- When the cast was done with "I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You", basically everyone leaves the stage except for Vanessa. Shortly, Vanessa starts her solo, "When There Was Me & You" The song was aboslutely amazing and it was great finally getting to see Vanessa walk around the stage and singing it. Vanessa did an amazing job and you could really tell she was singing live. (A+)

II. Ashley's Set

Following the performance of "When There Was Me & You" is Ashley's set. Ashley performed three songs from her upcoming February 6 album, "Headstrong"

Ashley's set includes:
1. Headstrong
2. We'll Be Together
3. He Said, She Said

Right before Ashley comes out to give her performance, Lucas Grabeel comes out and asks the crowd to do chants such as "When I say Ashley you say YEAH! Ashley! YEAH! Ashley YEAH!" He also notifies everyone that this is the first time everyone is hearing all of these songs because it is NOT out until February 6.

a) Headstrong
- The music for “Headstrong” plays right after the departure of Lucas. The word, “ASHLEY” come up on the screen, which was absolutely cool. Then male dancers come out and does their little dance, and POOF. The smoke comes out and here comes Ashley. Ashley wore her blue dress and it was VERY beautiful. She started singing her independence anthem, produced by The Matrix. She sounded a little different as I have heard her on her performances on Youtube. You could tell that Ashley was singing, but there was definitely voice playback. But then again, you can’t blame her. She is running up and down and left to right across the stage. Her performance for “Headstrong” is absolutely ground-breaking. The choreography is absolutely great and the pop-up smoke was adds on to the mystery and the tension. I love this song A LOT and finally getting to see the performance (not on Youtube) was great. This performance is VERY VERY good and is one of my favorite numbers performed of the entire concert. (A++)

b) Talk
After the performance of “Headstrong,” the High School Musical co-choreographer, Chucky Klapow arrives with water for Ashley. Ashley then introduces him and talks about her next song, “We’ll Be Together” which is dedicated to her fans.

c) We’ll Be Together
“We’ll Be Together” is a ballad sung by Ashley. It is just amazing. However, you could tell she is lip-synching, which is really sad, considering that Ashley has an absolutely amazing voice, and she has sung live in the other arenas (by looking at YouTube videos.) Also, I’m not sure how many of you have actually heard the leaked version, but in the middle, she goes “Ooh Yeah! I like what’s happening to me. Ooh Yeah! Nothing else to say. Ooh Yeah! Somebody finally got to me. Carry me away!” in which was cut out from the performance. I’m not sure why, but I guess Disney might have thought it was dirty. LOL. (A+)

d) He Said, She Said
After “We’ll Be Together” the lights turned all dark. Then suddenly intro for “He Said, She Said” started playing and there we see Ashley in an extremely short skirt. (which she looked amazing.) The performance started with girl dancers and Ashley on the left of the stage and male dancers on the right. The girl dancers think there’s a really “cute” guy over there and then they want to go talk to them, but are too scared. Then the guys push one of the guys (Jared) towards the girls, and he does a show-off dance right in front of the girls and they do a comeback with a huge attitude. This is a very interesting performance and I do love it a lot! This song was originally supposed to be Ashley’s first single off “Headstrong” but there were quite a lot of versions released and one of them is not as clean as you think it is. (“One night with you/ Oh just One night with you/ All the things we could do/ Everyday I think of/ Being with you/ No one else but us two/ All my dreams will come true/ If we just get together”) A music video has been filmed and make sure you be on a lookout for it on TRL on February 7.

e) Interview with Lucas Grabeel
Lucas comes out right after the performance and talks to Ashley about her upcoming projects such as the third season of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and her debut album, “Headstrong” Then Lucas talks about her performances of “He Said, She Said” and wondering if Ashley names each of her hips, “He Said” and “She Said” Doing some like “Hey.. Hey.. She Said she’s doing better than you…” “He Said you should do better” LOL. Boy, was Lucas funny.

General impression about Ashley’s set:
Ashley is a great and very pretty girl. She has a great voice and I have to say she gives one of the best performances of the night.

III. Get’cha Head In the Game/ Dance With Me

a) Get’cha Head In the Game
Right after the little interview between Ashley and Lucas, lockers were already setup and a bunch of guys and girls were there as basketball players. Also there was a hoop already setup. Drew and Corbin both played as basketball players and basketballs were brought out during this set. Each player also took turns to shoot. In addition, on screen, the words, “Get’cha Head in the Game” were popping up. It was really cool. [This little review for this section was completed by watching YouTube videos. I missed this section.] After Lucas came out and challenged a little 7-year-old for a one-on-one basketball. Once again Lucas displayed his great skills in emcee-ing and he signed an autograph for this boy. He is VERY lucky. (B+)

b) Dance With Me
After this little interaction with the crowd, Drew Seeley came out with a performance of the Cheetah-Girl crowd favorite, “Dance With Me.” Drew is a very great performer and he does have some great moves and a great voice. During his performance, the screen displays scenes from the “Dance With Me” music video and scenes from The Cheetah Girls 2. When Drew got to the slow part, “Dance With Me/ For this moment in time/ My darling just dance with me/ For just only one night….” And then Monique Coleman came out. She wore this gorgeous golden dress. She looked amazing and she danced with award- winning Latin dancer, Jared Murillo and Drew Seeley. They both did an amazing job and it was very entertaining and WOW! Monique is AMAZING at dancing. (A)

c) Interview with Lucas Grabeel
Lucas first interviewed Monique. Lucas spin-ed Monique! LOL. And then he started asking her questions about Dancing With the Stars and her experience. Monique seems like a really nice girl! Lucas also then sung “Dancing Queen” and changed the words a little to describe Monique. It was hilarious. When the song ended, Lucas was like “Kids. You might not get it but your parents definitely will.” I just thought it was funny. LOL. After Lucas interviewed Monique, he interviewed Drew. They talked about High School Musical and how he wrote Get’cha Head in the Game and about other stuff.

IV. Corbin’s Set
Following the interview was Corbin’s set. Corbin performed two songs from his upcoming April 17 album, "Another Side"

Corbin's set includes:
1. Push It to the Limit
2. Marching

a) Push It to the Limit
“Push It to the Limit” was the song featured on Jump In! and Corbin made his interest with his huge jump on the toaster. It was great. The screen displayed his name, “CORBIN” across the screen and also showed scenes from Jump In! In this performance, Corbin used complete voice-over and he did tons of action. He started out with boxing a couple of dancers (Don’t Worry. It was a pretending thing. And he didn’t hit them) Then he started dancing and jumping around. Then the dancers left and came back with jump ropes. Corbin then started jump roping and later when they got to the bridge, the dancers used the ropes to create a box to lock Corbin inside and he later broke out of it. The performance was really great and was very entertaining. Even my mom loved the performance. (A)

b) Break
After the “Push It to the Limit” performance, Corbin got some water; a new costume; and a break. He then introduced Tia, the dancer. He talked about how much he loved his POOFY hair.

c) Marching
Then it was time for another performance. This time, Corbin started with singing in a brand new R&B style. He wore this band outfit and on the screen, at times it displayed pictures of drums and beats. Later on, he brought out other dancers with band costumes. Corbin even showed off his drumming skills. Honestly, after watching the performance, I liked the song a little more, but this is still my least favorite song of the entire concert. [Sorry Corbin fans. But I’m just being honest, and don’t forget, I did like “Push It to the Limit”) (B)

d) Interview with Lucas Grabeel
After the performances, once again, Lucas comes out and comments on Corbin. He talked a little about his album, dancing and Jump In!. I didn’t pay much attention. LOL.

General impression of Corbin’s set:
I think Corbin is a really cool young man and he definitely did really well. He is a great dancer. Out of all the cast, he is one of the best at dancing.

V. What I’ve Been Looking For

a) What I’ve Been Looking For (Reprise)
Drew and Vanessa came out write after Corbin’s picture thing. (As shown above) and they did the slow version of “What I’ve Been Looking For” It’s obvious that it is done very well, but you could tell that the performance would have been a lot better if Zac was there. And not Drew. (I’m not saying Drew is bad, it’s just Zac and Vanessa has that great chemistry together.) (A)

b) What I’ve Been Looking For
Immediately after Drew and Vanessa’s version of “What I’ve Been Looking For,” Ashley & Lucas come out with their own first version. Just like the movie, they wore the same outfits and it was really nice watching it. Lucas and Ashley followed the entire dance as shown in the movie and it was great. Lucas even did his little jazz square mistake and Ashley got choked. LOL. (just like the movie) At the end of the performance, Ashley was like “I told you not to do the jazz squares.” And Lucas replied, “It’s a crowd favorite! Everybody loves a good jazz square!” The performance was really great and everybody enjoyed it. (A+)

VI. Vanessa’s Set
After the “What I’ve Been Looking For” performance, Ashley left the stage and Lucas did some very fast jazz square and introduced Vanessa. This time it was time for the last set of the night/ Vanessa’s set. Vanessa performed three songs from her debut album, "V"

Vanessa's set includes:
1. Let’s Dance
2. Say OK
3. Come Back to Me

a) Let’s Dance
This dance, electronic number was Vanessa’s introduction. The entire performance was very lively and very energetic. The song, nevertheless, makes you really want to dance. And I love this song. Everybody in the crowd knew the song and during the performance, once again, “BABY V” was put on the screen and a GIANT rhinestone V was being put down. I swear, I think that girl is a little obsessed with her Vs. (There’s like 23 V’s in her album cover.. LOL.. but anyways. I LOVE YOU VANESSA!) But the performance was great and very enjoyable. At the end of the song, her rhinestone V is pulled back up again. (A+)

b) Say OK
“Say OK” has been confirmed officially by Vanessa herself as her second single from her album. “Say OK” is a great ballad and was very nice seeing her perform that song live. But before I go any deeper, what you see on the Disney Channel version of the “Say OK” music video is true and it is completely like that, except her voice is not dubbed and Vanessa does sing live! The entire performance was basically done with Vanessa walking around the stage while singing, but it was still very enjoyable. (A+)

c) Interview with Lucas Grabeel
After “Say OK,” Vanessa talks briefly with Lucas about her album and all the project and how grateful she was. She is a real sweetie J And then afterwards Lucas asked if she could give the crowd one more song. Obviously Vanessa says yes and she belts out her final song, “Come Back to Me”

d) Come Back to Me
“Come Back to Me” was her debut single of her entire solo music career. This song is a great fun pop song and everyone in the crowd knew it. I heard so many people singing along to it. It was great. Also it was very good in performance once. Once again, the screen flashes her big GIGANTIC V. And then afterwards a couple of interesting dancing and her real live singing. Her performance was nothing special but yet it was very entertaining and great to see the song being performed. (A+)

General Impression about Vanessa’s set
Vanessa Hudgens, the smart braniac girl from High School Musical, is, WITHOUT A DOUBT, the performer that EVERYBODY was cheering for most. Her performance excited the most and definitely sparked the entire concert’s life. Everybody loved her and she got the most cheers. I saw many people singing along to her songs and even dancing.

VII. Bop To the Top/ Breaking Free/ We’re All In This Together

a) Bop to the Top
After Vanessa gave her performances. Ashley and Lucas came out immediately to do her performances of “Bop to the Top” This time they wore the same outfit as the movie. It was really nice and looks great in real life. I loved exactly how they did their little dance number and the dance was exactly the same as the movie. In addition, in the middle, a little break was added for Lucas and Ashley to ask everybody to stand up to dance. This time I stood up and boy, I think I’m one of the oldest people here. LOL. But without that it was great fun. Afterwards, those two finished the performances and they quickly left the stage. (A+)

b) Breaking Free
The #1 song and the best song off the 4x platinum soundtrack, “Breaking Free” was finally performed. Everybody knew the words and enjoyed it a lot. Drew and Vanessa did an amazing job and you got to see everyone sing along and it was great. This was definitely one of the star performances of the night, and it was absolutely beautiful watching it especially with the screen flashing pictures of a galaxy and stars. It was great. In the middle, there were even screens displaying people singing, and also while everyone was singing along, at the end part, Drew and Vanessa even stopped for a pause before ending the song! (A+)

c) We’re All In This Together
After “Breaking Free” the rest of the cast comes out with their high school uniforms and singing their final song, “We’re All In This Together” The dances was completely the same as the movie and it was great seeing it live. Finally, as the cast sings, Jordan Pruitt comes back on and the cast and dancers thanks everybody for coming out and give their final gratitude. Then Lucas leads everybody in singing and dancing the last chorus of “We’re All In this Together” and the show ends! (A+)

VIII. Ending

During the ending, there’s confetti and sparks and everything. After the concert, you will see on the screen, it will say “HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2: COMING SOON IN SUMMER 2007” And everybody leaves! WHAT A GREAT CONCERT!!

PART 9: DEPARTURE/ MEET-AND- GREET
Don’t get too excited after reading title. Because here I am bursting your bubble. No. I did not meet the cast. Here’s what happened. During the concert, I got this message from Ashley:

Special Treat! 1st 15 ppl to meet “Bree” @ 730p @ sec206 door inside the Anaheim HSM show 2nite w/ this txt will get meet greet passes for 2nite!! – Ashley

After looking at that message. I was extremely upset because it was already 8:15 and the text said 7:30. But then I checked and I found out that the message was sent out 7:52. So I was guessing maybe Ashley made a typo. So I went out at 8:30, and Bree wasn't there. I asked the security there if they knew who Bree was and he didn’t. And then after the concert, I went to 206 again to check. Bree wasn't there. And then I went around the entire arena asking for her. And either no one knew who she was, or knows who she is, but have no way of contacting her. Then while I tried going back to the arena tour, I saw an old lady and an old man walk down the stairs toward the arena and two security guards were calling them (surprisingly ignoring what I was doing.. walking down the arena.. just like the old people). I then tried to get pass them (for they were walking very slowly) until I saw a blonde girl walk up and I found out she was one of the dancers on the HSM tour and got her grandparents a backstage pass. I eavesdropped for awhile and I found out where they were. (They were in section 212) Then I slowly walked towards Section 212 and surprisingly no security guard showed up and stopped me. LOL. And then when I got there.. I tried my best to squeeze in the area. I found out there was actually a security lady who was checking for wristbands and backstage passes. And that’s when I realized I sneaked in. I continued to asking for Bree until I saw Chucky. (the HSM choreographer) I kind of took a picture of him on my phone (without him noticing) and then I walked up and asked him about Bree. When I asked him, he had NO idea who Bree was. And then he walked away. Later on, all the access pass holders were asked to line up and I followed them, and found out where the cast was. The kids slowly lined up and were walking in. The security guard people were checking EVERY SINGLE PERSON’S WRIST. There was almost NO WAY you would have been able to sneak across them (There were more than 6.) When it was my turn, I was like. I’m actually here looking for Bree, and then he asked me to wait aside. Later on, a security guard talked to me and my mom and I showed him the text. Then he helped me contact Bree. It turns out I was right and Bree was upstairs and you know what else, she denied me and my mom a meet-and-greet pass and said: “At every arena, these stuff always happen and people always pretend they are Bree and send out a text message like this” And you know the bad thing is, I waited for more than an hour and ALSO Bree didn’t even apologize! After hearing this.. I left which was really sad without meeting the cast. When the concert was over, the crew comes RIGHT OUT and starts packing all the materials and the cast gets ready to meet the cast and they all get a good night sleep and they go to their next city!

PART 10: FINAL THOUGHTS
The concert nevertheless was amazing. However, my experience was not. I’m not sure if you guys noticed, but in this post, a lot of pictures have tags, and I have no mention of videos and stuff. This is what happened. While I was filming clips at the start of the concert until “I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” my camera froze. I could not get it to move, I could NOT get ANY pictures and could NOT get ANY videos. I was VERY disappointed and I ended up with only horrible pictures on my phone and they were so bad that it wouldn’t even have looked like it was from a concert. I was VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY disappointed, especially because I missed filming Ashley’s set. So here I am, I deeply apologizing about all this. I hate my camera A LOT and I have managed to fix it today. But anyways, this final thoughts section I will explain my final ideas.

To be honest, I loved EVERY performance, and EVERY SONG. I could sing along with everything. (except Corbin Bleu’s “Marching”, which is still unreleased.) I thought the entire cast was very talented in every single way, and I wish I was as talented as them. LOL. Out of the showcases, Ashley Tisdale showed off her “headstrong” skills and her great performing skills. She nevertheless is one of the best performers of the show. Corbin Bleu’s set displayed his great moves. Corbin Bleu’s set is most definitely the most originals out of all of the three and he, without a doubt, is a very good dancer. (same goes to Monique Coleman) Vanessa Hudgen’s set was very interesting. Her three performances were very entertaining and showed off her great vocals. Her performances were most lively out of all and is definitely a crowd favorite. Other cast members, such as Lucas Grabeel were absolutely adorable and great at emcee-ing. Drew Seeley was amazing at his performances and Monique Coleman is just great with dancing. Congrates to the entire cast for all of the success. They most definitely deserves it.
Anyways, I’m very glad you got to this part of the review because it is like the 20th page on Word. LOL. Thanks so much for all the support and I hope you find this useful. If you still haven’t attended the concert, please do see the cast on tour! I had tons of fun and I really enjoyed it. I’m sure you guys will too. If you really can’t make it, don’t worry because the concert will be arriving on DVD in the summer. BTW. While I was walking out, I heard A LOT of positive comments about the tour and everybody thought it was one of the best concerts they have ever been to. Please do leave me a comment about everything. [ALSO. FULL VERSION of Positivity HAS BEEN REMOVED. AS CLEARLY STATED IN THE DIRECTION: DO NOT POST IT ANYWHERE ELSE (ESPECIALLY YOU DIDN'T EVEN GIVE ME CREDIT.)
